The easiest and best Italian tomato sauce ever!

So simple and yet so good! This Italian tomato sauce never fails the expectations and has been a regular on our table for many years. It is very easy and quick to make and turns a simple meal into a real delight.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 pcs Onion
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 800 g Canned peeled tomatoes, whole or chopped
  • 2 tbsp Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 3-4 tbsp Basil, frozen or fresh
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Parmesan cheese
  • 500 g Linguini

Instructions

  • Chop the onion and fry it for 15 minutes at low/medium heat. Be careful so the onion does not turn brown.
  • After frying for 10 minutes add the garlic using a garlic press (or finely chopped)
  • Add the canned tomatoes, vinegar, sugar, basilic, salt and pepper
  • Simmer for approx 15 minutes while steering occasionally
  • While the sauce is simmering, boil the water and cook your linguini.
  • Serve the linguini with the sauce and top it with parmesan cheese, fresh basil and freshly ground pepper.
