Simple and quick summer dessert: Crumble with Mirabelle

Jump to Recipe
Level: Easy
Time: 50 min

The crumble was created by the British during the second world war due to ingredients needed for regular pie dough being rationed. The most common recipes are sweet, made with fruits like apple and rhubarb, but you can also find salt versions with meat, vegetables and cheese. As a dessert, it is really simple and quick to make and it usually pleases both adults and kids around the table. Sometimes I tend to find crumbles too sweet, so in this Crumble with Mirabelle version I have added a bit of lemon to the plums in order to balance off a bit their sweetness. It is delicious! You can serve the crumble hot on its own, or with vanilla ice cream or creme fraiche.
